Most anticipated video games of 2020
There have been a lot and I do mean a lot of good video-game announcements in 2019. We’ve already got some amazing video games already like the fan favorite resident evil to remake which was an amazing game that blew everyone away back when it released and absolutely went over the board to surpassed the expectations that were considered likely to be topped.
There were many good games in this year already but I think that nothing can compare to what we are promised for the upcoming year. We’re getting some classics back as well is new IP’s that people are absolutely going crazy about. This is why I thought that I should put a list and include some of the games that I found to be mostly anticipated but I also hope that they are as good as they say they are.
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2
It was back in 2004, the year that the Source engine’s giants and the legendary game, Half-Life 2 was released. Actually on the same exact day another game happens to be released that went mainly unnoticed and when realize that it has been released on the same exact day as what some consider to be “the greatest game of all time”, it is easy to see why the original Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines didn’t receive more attention, the attention that I wholeheartedly consider it deserves.
This game takes place in the well-established world amply named “The World of Darkness”. It is a dark place as it can be easily deducted from the name that is a home to all sorts of nightmarish creatures like undead zombies, werewolves, ghosts and of course fan favorites, vampires.
However, disregard all of the previous two knowledge that you might have about vampires because The World of Darkness has what I like to consider “true vampires”.
These are the creatures that are not unlike ourselves. They have their laws, their communities and they live among us, integrated with the human world and our communities. They are not inherently evil although they do require blood to sustain themselves which they come across one way or another.
In the original, you were a fledgling vampire thrown into the world to experience it at your own accord and however you want choosing from who you are and who you want to be from that point on while given the tools and options to shave yourself and the world around you anyway that you want.
It was a true role-playing game, game of choices and consequences that deserved much more attention than it initially got and I hope that with the upcoming sequel that we have waited for 16 years, were going to get another shot at this amazing game and everything that it could have been if it’s development wasn’t rushed and it’s released overshadowed with an absolute behemoth that Half-Life 2 was and still is.
Of course, this list wouldn’t be complete without cyberpunk 2077 and all the hype that has been building around the game. And for good reason. Being developed by the same people who made the already legendary Witcher series and more specifically Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, it is easy to see why this game has so much resting on stroller. It has to be more than good, it has to be fantastic and even though promises of such games rarely live up to their fans expectations, I cannot help but have a very positive take on the entire cyberpunk 2077 situation.
I have absolutely no concerns regarding this games development. They’ve been taking their time ever since 2013 when the games teaser trailer firstly showed up showing a young woman with spring-loaded blades in her hands while a police officer behind her has her at the gunpoint. Even this little teaser trailer was enough to get me excited about the upcoming CD Projekt RED’s game and nothing has changed during these six years.
Cyberpunk promises a futuristic, dystopian neon-lit world of the Night City where, as the developers themselves say, body modification has become an obsession and the way of life and I for one can’t wait to take a walk through its streets.
Final Fantasy VII Remake (Episode 1)
Another old-school game brought back to life with the remake that promises to be so much more than the original ever was. If you thought that Resident Evil 2 remake had a lot to live up to, don’t even get me started on the Final Fantasy VII.
This is a game that defined a generation not just a generation of console but also an entire generations of people who play the game. This is a game that sets standards to raise the bar that allowed the people to see the potential of what video games could be. This is one of the pioneers of gameplay, freedom and storytelling in video games and it is no wonder that it has been considered and seen by many as one of the best video games ever made. This last sentence is not even an exaggeration and even though I’m not a huge fan of turn-based combat, Final Fantasy VII was true treat to play even back in the day when you could literally count the polygons of characters and had to read every sentence because there was no voice-over whatsoever.
Final Fantasy VII remake promises to bring back the world that we all fell in love with 22 years ago and expand it as much as possible to cover all of the originally cut content as well is the war that was established after the games release.
It has been confirmed that the game is going to be an episodic release so, in March 2020 where not getting a full game but rather a fraction of it, and access to the first episode of the Final Fantasy VII remake saga and I can’t wait to see how it all turns out!
