Best games of first half of 2019 – Part Two
As I talked about some of the best games from the first part of 2019 already but it felt like I haven’t even touched half of them and at some other games deserve recognition as well. I want to do right by those games and a lot of you have asked me why haven’t included this and why haven’t included data were what about some other games so, I decided to revisit this post that I made earlier and add some more titles to it.
So without further adieu, I do not really need to re-instigate and all of this, this is the second part of the best games of 2019 that have been released in the first half of the year.
Yes, Apex Legends. A lot of you will disagree on this but I assure you that that’s not because the game is bad or doesn’t deserve praise, only because the people that are hating on it are fans of different genre and haven’t really considered giving this one ago. Let me explain…
I’m not a fan of Battle Royale, never have been and I probably never will be. These games are just not something that floats my boat, and generally, multiplayer games are not my cup of tea. However that doesn’t mean that Apex Legends is not a great game because it most definitely is.
So yeah, Apex Legends, the surprise hit from Respawn Entertainment (the developers of Titanfall 2) that took us by surprise and it seems like it’s here to stay. If you have a knack for multiplayer games, fast-paced first-person shooters with acrobatic terrain traversal and a hell of a lot of guns, different characters, magics and all sorts of sci-fi abilities, definitely check this one out because it’s free to play!
First let me say that I absolutely despise what they did when they decided to make this game and Epic Store exclusive for the PC. With that, I have listed all of the best things about this game. Other than being an exclusive and tied to specific platform, this game is otherwise magnificent.
The graphics are rivaling those of concept art drawings being made alive and you can literally feel in breathe in the atmosphere around every corner. Outside, inside, deep down in the metro tunnels surrounded by the unknown and mostly cobwebs and mutated rats, this game is going to be one hell of a ride for everyone.
It sure helps if you’ve played the previous installments because the story continues but, if you haven’t, don’t let that discourage you for downloading and playing Metro Exodus as your first entry into the world of Metro 2033.
Not exactly as the first game, Rage 2 expands and translates into something much bigger and much more open-ended. The original game was okay, although it didn’t really surprise me that much as it did make an impression for some people but this new installment is definitely worth checking out even if you have no ties to the previous game whatsoever.
Imagine if you had Doom guy arrive in a post-apocalyptic world while also preferring to travel on a makeshift vehicle equipped with guns and all different sorts of gadgets.
Rage 2 is an action-packed, fast-paced first-person shooter with a lot of cool ways to take down your enemies, from special abilities, boomerang like gadget, melee takedowns and of course, slamming your fist into the ground so hard that is going to kill or at least push away and sent flying anyone unfortunate enough to find itself in its closer proximity.
Risk of Rain 2
Risk of Rain was a stylized two-dimensional shooter platform are and I guess survival game that rewarded and encouraged high risk – high reward gameplay. The more you play the game the harder it gets but in turn the rewards for playing at those harder difficulties are of course greater.
Risk of Rain 2 takes things to the next dimension, quite literally as it introduces transition from 2D to 3D.
This game is pretty much exactly the same as the first game was, just entirely in 3D and I’m not saying that as a bad thing in fact, I think it’s a great thing. It is a very challenging third person shooter that is well worth its asking price and of course, it is best played with your friends so if you have friends that like this kind of games, give it a go.
And now, even with these games listed here, I’m not sure that I’ve done all of the good games of 2019 justice so I might come back eventually Angela turned part of the series but for now, these are the titles that deserve recognition from players all around the world so if you haven’t had the opportunity and pleasure to try some of them out, do yourself a favor, pick one of them up and have a hell of a good time.
